A million things can go wrong on both sides during a war, so it's really very random.
#SCREEPS SINGLE PLAYER CODE#
That said, it's fun to toy around with other players so long as it's not too lopsided (either side) and with some strategy, you can beat much bigger players or have a very hard time removing a smaller player, it really comes down to code quality and a bit of rock paper scissors (ie: how good your offence vs defense code is vs his, how strong your economy is, how good you are at adapting to new strategies and finding weak points, etc. The code required to use every aspect of the game is colossal, so there is a LOT of stuff to do and players are just a tiny part of all that. The game by itself is a lot of fun even with no other players involved.
Tldr Play both, set up a local/private test environment to test with fast forward, and consider PVP your "production" environment. Assuming your colony is designed to start from any given spawn point in any given room, it results in a very short "refactory" period. You might get completely destroyed, but you can immediately respawn with the same "experience points". When I started, I didn't get attacked for about a week, and when I did, it was not very well executed - not that my defenses were either.ĮDIT: I think an important thing to note is how little punishment there is for losing. On top of that, you will start in a "beginner" area, meaning most people around you will be just as clueless as you are, and probably will not attack you right away as they themselves have to figure everything out. You will get at least a hundred hours out of simply setting up your economy - PVP or not. After all, the point of playing this game is to eventually not have to.Īnyway, my point is: The difference between PVP and PVE in this game are very slim at first. It's especially interesting to see it start from nothing with no intervention from yourself. The main advantage is that you can increase the speed of the game to test your code and build more efficient processes. On the other hand, it makes sense to set up a test environment in the simulation room or your own local/private server. You can't do much from your phone, but you can at least get the gist of what's going on if you check it. It is possible for people to build up vast defenses, but it is also possible to set up automated attacks - all day long. Honestly the PVP is the most exciting aspect of the game.
